The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation and the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation hosted a Thank You event on August 1. Local nonprofit leaders, event organizers, and community sponsors involved in the Give Big CHQ fundraiser celebrated their success at the Southern Tier Brewing Company.
The 24-hour online fundraising day, held on June 13, generated $184,193.10 from over 1,600 donors to support 97 nonprofit organizations throughout Chautauqua County.
“Give Big CHQ really showcased what can happen when everyone comes together to support one another,” said Tory Irgang, executive director of the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. “This truly was an accomplishment for our entire community, and we are thrilled to be able to celebrate the incredible work of our nonprofits.”
During the "thank you" event, Irgang and Diane Hannum, executive director of the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, recognized 41 organizations that earned 93 cash prizes totaling $25,000. These awards were part of the giving day event.
"The cash prizes certainly added to the day's fun! We are looking forward to Give Big CHQ 2020 when we come together again. Our goal is to raise more dollars for those organizations contributing so much to Chautauqua County," said Hannum.
In addition to the community foundations, community sponsors included Allied Alarm Services, Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, PC, Courier Capital LLC, Southern Tier Brewing Company and Weber Knapp.
