  • The Honorable Joseph J. Ricotta is elected Director Emeritus posthumously.

  • Ruth Barker Winch Scholarship established to benefit graduates from 11 school districts.

  • Gebbie Foundation awards a challenge grant of $200,000 for the purpose of building the unrestricted endowment funds to $1 million dollars.

  • Mr. & Mrs. George B. Weaver Jr. gift $1 million. The gift is designated unrestricted and will be paid over a period of time through a number of gifts and estate vehicles.

  • Assets total $1,196,582.

  • NCCF awards its first discretionary grants through the Community Grants Program.

  • Dunkirk City School District transfers 20 separate scholarship funds to the NCCF.

  • Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation incorporates as a 501(c) 3 charitable organization.

  • A feasibility study by a community foundation "expert" suggests that the prospect for a community foundation in northern Chautauqua County does not seem likely.
